Disappointment can leave you in state of despair and questioning the choices that you have made. In those times you should quiet yourself and honestly think about why you started in the first place. If you started with hopes of fame or fortune, you’re probably doing it for all the wrong reasons. But I’ve found that when you do things with the hopes of helping others, making someone else’s life better or creating a more joyful place to live, the journey is so much easier. You make clearer decisions and you don’t spend time having a mental battle about whether or not it is the right thing to do. When you think about disappointments you may have experienced, they weren’t necessarily a bad thing. I know, at the time it might have seemed like a personal affront and you might have asked, “Oh my God, why me?” But if you think back on some of your disappointments, they were actually a catalyst for something extraordinary. Extraordinary can come from happy beginnings but sometimes the most extraordinary things come from a place of hurt, anger, disappointment and disillusionment. When pain surrounds and engulfs you somewhere in the middle of that pain is happiness, joy and a lesson that you need to learn. I implore you today to not think of your disappointment as the end. Don’t allow disappointment to make you think you are on the wrong path. In reality when you fail, you have found just one more way that it won’t work. Use it as a launching pad towards the direction of your goal. When you’re doing things that are congruent with your goal in life, your passion and your true purpose, the disappointments you face will be seen as lessons, opportunities and motivation to keep moving forward.
