WYP2016 Speaker Spotlight
Global-trotting humanitarian and ambassador, Karen Arrington is in the speaker spotlight this week. Her nickname is the “Queen of Service”. Between creating the nation’s first scholarship pageant for African American women and co-founding the first Diabetes Awareness Day in Gambia, she leaves not question why the nickname fits. Go grab your coffee and tea and take some time to meet Karen Arrington:
How did your earlier career choices lead you to where you are now?
When I look back on my life and choices, I realize that it was all a part of God’s plan for me. Everything I went through prepared me for where I am today. My BFF used to tease me all the time because I was never at any job long. Going from job to job served me well.
What career mistake has given you the biggest lesson?
I believe all my career choices served a purpose. God says “grow where you are planted”. Through the good and bad, I was elevated and promoted because my faith was greater than my fear.
What is the biggest risk that you’ve taken?
Quitting my good government job. It was the most frightening and terrifying thing I’ve ever done with the biggest payoff.
What is the biggest challenge to achieving success?
Playing it safe. Stepping outside your comfort zone, which is where the magic is.
Who are you without your accolades?
Hands down, a woman of God and faithful servant.
Register today to meet Karen at the 3rd annual Work Your Package Women’s Conference.
